Wales and JISC projects

As of summer 2010, all Higher Education and some Further Education institutions in Wales are involved in some form of JISC project, either in their own right or as partners in projects led by others. The following list shows the many Programmes in which Welsh institutions are engaged, and gives an indication of the wide range of JISC Programmes which are seen as relevant to education in Wales:

On the JISC website, each Programme page has links to pages for individual projects (including contact information and links to project websites). These can be a good way of finding out what's going on and you can contact projects directly for more information.

In addition, during 2010-2011, all Welsh Higher Education institutions are receiving a portion of HEFCW capital funding, via JISC, to run technology-enhanced learning projects which build on existing work. These projects are taking place under the Building Capacity Wales programme. More information will be available as these projects evolve. If you want to find out what work is being funded in your organisation, the best way to find out is probably to contact your head of learning and teaching, or your technology-enhanced learning support staff. Library and Information Services are also good places to find out about current projects in your organisation.

Last but not least, your Regional Support Centre, JISC RSC Wales, is funded partly by JISC and partly by WAG to support technology-enhanced learning in Wales. We're part of a well-established network of JISC Regional Support Centres across the UK, and are increasingly part of the JISC Advance group of services.

JISC has produced a bilingual brochure Enabling Innovation 2006-2009/Galluogi Arloesedd 2006-2009. This describes projects funded under the JISC Capital Programme, and gives a good overview of how funds have been invested in Wales.

Where to get further help

If you have a query about applying for funding for a technology-enhanced learning project, contact us at support@rsc-wales.ac.uk.

We publicise selected JISC funding opportunities in a variety of ways, including on Twitter , our various JISCmail lists (contact us at support@rsc-wales.ac.uk for details) and our monthly e-bulletin, sent to all our contacts. We don't try and cover all JISC calls, but we traditionally focus on thoses which are likely to be of particular interest to colleges and other organisations with less experience of bidding to JISC.

For the full details of all JISC funding opportunities, visit www.jisc.ac.uk/funding for details of the JISC-ANNOUNCE mailing list, or follow JISC on Twitter.
